Pagasa: Warmer days loom as 'amihan' ends

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that warmer days will be felt in most parts of the country as the northeast monsoon or “amihan” season may end this week.

Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said in an advisory on Monday that in the past several years, the northeast monsoon season usually ends around the middle of March, raising the possibility that it is the last week of "amihan."

However, Badrina said that the northeast monsoon will continue to prevail in Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Aurora and northern Quezon, bringing overcast skies and rain.

Low pressure area 630 kilometers east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur will cast cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the Caraga and Davao regions.

Badrina added that based on Pagasa's latest data, the low pressure area has a minimal chance of becoming an intensified weather disturbance due its location.

He said fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible isolated rain showers is expected in Metro Manila and the rest of the country for most of the week.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
