PamCham sets DET workshop on Aug 2

THE Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (PamCham) will be holding a Dual Education and Training (DET) Cluster Stakeholders Engagement Workshop, at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 2, at the Ephatha Development Center, Maimpis in the City of San Fernando.

This developed as the PamCham was appointed local chamber partner of the DET project of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Human Resource Development Foundation (HRDF) implemented through the support of the German Society for International Cooperation and the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation.

The DET approach is chamber-initiated and industry guided. The theoretical part of the qualification will be taught in school while the industry-demanded competencies training set in Asean standards (dual approach) is conducted in the workplace.

The DET’s intent is to address the challenges of skills mismatch or underemployment, help the business sector have a steady supply of highly-skilled manpower, and enable the academe to provide the youth/students with education/ training that is aligned with the competencies demanded by the industries.

The PCCI–HRDF through PamCham intends to involve business associations, enterprises, schools and the local government in Pampanga to undertake and implement DET.

With DET, human resource skills needed by the industries will be immediately responded to by the local schools and training institutions. Businesses will most likely reduce in-house training expenses for their new hirees because the in-company assimilation period will have already been covered by the DET industry training.

PamCham believes that this will be the beginning of a mutually beneficial partnership between the stakeholders in providing better education-training as well as employment opportunities for incoming workforce. (PR)
