BATANGAS -- The Pampanga Mayors' League (PML) donated on Wednesday, January 29, a total of P1.5 million intended for the repair and rehabilitation of public hospitals devastated by the recent eruptions of Taal volcano.

PML President and concurrent Minalin Mayor Edgardo Flores, together with the mayors and Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda, personally turned over the cheques to Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas at the Batangas Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) Command and Control Center.

According to the Pampanga mayors, they were inspired by Governor Pineda's passion for serving his fellowmen, even those outside Pampanga.

The municipality of Lubao, led by Mayor Esmeralda Pineda, donated P300,000.

The municipalities of Magalang, San Simon, Candaba, Macabebe, Porac, Bacolor, Minalin, Sta. Ana, Floridablanca, Sta. Rita, Masantol, and Guagua donated P100,000 each.

Prior to this, the other municipalities had already given their in-kind and monetary donations.

Aside from the P1.5-million cash assistance from the PML, other private organizations and individuals in Pampanga shared P400,000.

For his part, Governor Mandanas assured that all donations will be used to improve the services of public hospitals in Batangas. (PR)
