Parent warned for leaving child to play bingo games

Reynaldo G. Navales

A PARENT who allegedly left her daughter outside a mall stall to play bingo games has been warned of legal action by local social welfare officials.

Accompanied by policemen from the Angeles City Police Station 3, personnel of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) held a dialogue with the mother.

The social workers warned the parent that the CSWDO will take custody of the child if the incident is repeated.

Authorities did not identify the mother nor the child for confidentiality and protection.

This case falls under Section 3 of Republic Act 7610, which clearly states child abuse.

Child abuse refers to the maltreatment, whether habitual or not, of the child, which includes psychological and physical abuse, neglect, cruelty, sexual abuse, and emotional maltreatment, the CSWDO stated.

City officials at the same time warned the gaming firm, Bingo Trone, because of the incident.

The CSWDO said that similar incident transpired in 2019 involving the establishment.

The Business Permit and Licensing Division is now conducting an investigation to determine whether the bingo firm has violated current guidelines.
