PDEA agent, cohort killed in drug bust

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- An agent of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and his cohort who were suspected of engaging in drug pushing were killed in a brief firefight with policemen during a drug bust in Barangay Gayagaya, City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan at dawn yesterday.

Police Colonel Rhoderick Armamento, Deputy Regional Director for Operations, identified the fatalities as Jayvee Ancho Dineros, an agent of PDEA who was listed in the drug watch list of the Philippine National Police and one Jun.

Armamento said Bulacan Drugs Enforcement Unit and City of San Jose Del Monte police operatives conducted buy-bust operation against the suspects.

He said after the suspects hand over a sachet of shabu, through a prearranged signal, the backup policemen came closer.

Sensing that they were dealing with undercover police officer, the suspects drew their guns and fired towards the operatives.

The operatives retaliated and an exchange of shots ensued that resulted to the killing of the suspects, Armamento said.

Recovered from the duo were a caliber .38 revolver, an improvised shotgun and a motorcycle. (Ric Sapnu)
