THE Police Regional Office in Central Luzon (PRO-3) has reshuffled police chiefs all over the region ahead of the May 2019 elections.

According to PRO-3 Director Joel Napoleon Coronel, the reshuffling of the 16 chiefs of police in Central Luzon Region is part of the Philippine National Police’s preparations for the 2019 midterm elections.

He stressed that the revamp “does not automatically mean that the chiefs of police were underperforming in their duties.” Instead, they have already stayed in their posts for the maximum allowable period of two years.

“We are adhering to the directives of higher headquarters and this movement was deliberated and approved by our regional oversight committee. At the same time, it is the nature of police work, especially police officials to be assigned to different fields to further test their capabilities,” Coronel said.

“I also gave directives to all our provincial and city police offices to go ‘tooth and nail’ in our aggressive operations against criminals and gun-for-hire syndicates as well as stern implementation of the gun ban to ensure the peaceful holding of credible and fair elections this May,” he added.
