PUBLIC service with love at the core of leadership is what keeps Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda going in serving Kapampangans despite her age.

Still two days before her birthday on February 21, celebrations and wishes for the beloved “Nanay” of Pampanga have already started.

This, after provincial government officials and employees, surprised the vice-governor with a birthday song during the morning flag ceremony on Monday, February 17, at the Capitol grounds.

At her turn to speak, Vice Governor Pineda was overjoyed as she thanked everyone for the advance birthday greetings given to her.

“Matua ne y Nanay ne? Pero bakit atiu ku pa keni? Siguru dahil king serbisyu at lugud ku karing Kapampangan. Ing pusu ku binye kune talaga para karing Kapampangan,” she said.

(I’m already old. But why am I still here? I think it’s because of the amount of love and service I render for Kapampangans. I already gave myself to the Kapampangans.)

Vice Governor Pineda came into office as the governor of Pampanga in 2010.

Since then, she has prioritized the well-being of Kapampangans, implementing programs and projects to benefit the less fortunate ones.

During her term, she has connected with Kapampangans as she did her best to address everyone’s needs just like a mother to her own children, thus owning the name “Nanay” of Pampanga. (PR)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
