CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region (BFAR)-Central Luzon declared that the coastal waters of Pampanga are now free from the red tide toxin.

On its latest shellfish bulletin, BFAR-Central Luzon lifted the red tide warning after samples collected from province's coastal waters tested negative for the red tide toxin.

Negative results for Paralytic Shellfish Poison (PSP) were obtained from three consecutive weeks of sampling in the area, the bulletin noted.

"Shellfish harvested from Pampanga are now safe human consumption, and its gathering, harvesting and marketing from the area is now permitted," it added.

BFAR, meanwhile, assured that the agency and its local government partners will continue to monitor the coastal waters to safeguard public health and protect fishery industry.
