San Fernando holds 2nd Central Luzon tourism quiz bee

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The City Government of San Fernando, through its City Tourism Office, over the weekend held the second Central Luzon Tourism Quiz Bee competition at Robinsons Malls here.

The participants were college-level tourism students from eight universities in Central Luzon which are Phinma Araullo University, Bataan Peninsula State University, City College of Angeles, President Ramon Magsaysay State University, STI College Balagtas, STI College San Fernando, STI College San Jose, and University of the Assumption.

City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan said that tourism is a very broad industry and field of study, and the competition will most likely make the tourism college students have a more comprehensive outlook when it comes to pursuing tourism careers.

The contestants answered topics about Philippine heritage and culture, eco-tourism, world tourism, tourism principles, sustainable tourism, tourism in Central Luzon, travel and tourism operations, tourism laws, and tourism and technology.

Janelle Ann Ferrer, Lea Antonette Reyes, and Rovie Hazel Amurao of Phinma Araullo University from Nueva Ecija were hailed champions while Jonas Alcantara, Joshua Daniel Ricafort, and Melvin Salvador of STI College Balagtas from Bulacan won first runner-up and Arieanne Naomi Javier, Princess Aldea Camille Macam, and Aliyah Rocella Alsaybar of STI College San Jose from Nueva Ecija landed as second-runner up.
