MAYOR Abundio Punsalan Jr. has assured Simonians of the continuous accessibility of local government programs to all sectors as he officially serves his second term yesterday noon.

Punsalan made the assurance during his oath-taking and inauguration ceremony which was administered by former fourth district Representative Juan Pablo “Rimpy” Bondoc.

According to Punsalan, his second term in office will be anchored in the vision of bringing closer the services of the local government to its people.

“Simula naman nung first term ko, ako mismo ang bumababa sa mga barangay para marinig at ibigay ang mga pangangailangan ng mga Simonians at palalawigin pa natin ito para masiguro na lahat ng serbisyo ng munisipyo ay aabot sa bawat Simonian,” he said.

In his inaugural speech, Punsalan bared some of the programs and projects that are set to be implemented in the next three years.

Among them are the concreting of the San Jose-San Miguel bridge, the opening of the San Simon Community Hospital, construction of a public tertiary school and local roads.

He also vows to expand programs benefitting indigent students, farmers, transport drivers, solo parents and senior citizens.

The re-elected mayor also asked for the continued partnership and cooperation of the business sector, especially industrial firms along the Quezon Road.

Meanwhile, Punsalan urged his fellow elected officials to unite for the common goal of providing development in San Simon.

“Magkaisa na tayo dahil ngayon ay meron na tayong responsibilidad sa mga Simonians na nagluklok sa atin. Magtrabaho na tayo para sa bayan at hindi para sa partido lang,” he said.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
