THE local government of San Simon has set up mini markets in all of its 14 villages to minimize the movement of people amid the threat of coronavirus disease.

Mayor Abundio Punsalan, Jr. said he coordinated with market vendors to make their products or produce available in their neighborhood through the mini markets.

“In this way, we will be able to more effectively promote home quarantine and also lessen the transportation expenses of our constituents,” Punsalan said.

Among the essentials available at the mini markets are meat, vegetable, fruits and frozen goods.

The mini markets were placed in strategic places such as covered courts or open spaces near the barangay halls to make it accessible to residents, the mayor furthered.

“They can ride their bicycle or just go for a walk to buy their needs. But they must remember that their movement must only be limited to buying essentials or else they will be apprehended,” Punsalan said.
