Scholarship grants worth P15 million up for San Luis residents

SAN LUIS -- The local government here is allocating P15-million for the scholarship program for college students in town.

The program, dubbed as "Iskolar ng Luis" will provide financial assistance amounting to P3,000 each per semester to some 2,500 qualified students.

Students must have at least 85 percent or 2.25 general weighted average (GWA) in their first year, 80 percent or 2.50 GWA in their second year and no failing grades in their third and fourth year, to become eligible for the program.

Interested applicants must submit a copy of any proof that they are enrolled to any school or university, original copy of barangay indigency certificate and voter's ID/certification/receipt.

The local government is targeting to distribute per barangay the scholarship grants for the first semester by September 27 to 30.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
