TRANSPORTATION Secretary Arthur P. Tugade said on Saturday, May 29, 2021, trains that will be used for Philippine National Railways (PNR) Clark and PNR Calamba, two segments of the massive North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Project, will arrive in December 2021.

In his official social media post, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) chief also said the arrival date of the training simulator for the PNR Clark Phase 1 project is between September and October this year.

At present, the construction of PNR Clark Phase 1 is 45.82 percent complete. Meanwhile, girders will be set on piles over the next two weeks, according to Tugade.

"Patunay ito na any proyektong ito ay talaga namang tuloy-tuloy na at nagkakatotoo," he said.

Conceptualized in 1993 and with funding from the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Tugade said the PNR Clark Phase 1 Project is a 38-kilometer railway that runs from Tutuban in Manila to Malolos, Bulacan.

PNR Clark Phase 2, on the other hand, is a 54-kilometer rail line, which will connect Malolos, Bulacan and Clark, he added.

The project will also feature the country’s first-ever Airport Express, which will cut travel time from the Clark International Airport in Pampanga to Makati City to about an hour, Tugade said.

Shelved for two decades, the official said the PNR Clark Phase 2 Project is now at a 28.79 percent completion rate.
