Valentine’s Day clean up yields 245 sacks of garbage

SANTA ANA -- The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (Penro) in Pampanga reported that it has collected some 245 sacks of mixed wastes from its recent Valentine’s Day clean up in a creek here over the weekend.

The wastes included plastic bottles, plastic cups, tetra packs, plastic straws, styrofoam cups, plastic wrappers, plastic bags, tin cans, rubber slippers, dried leaves and grass.

As part of PENRO Pampanga's continued commitment to the implementation of the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program's target activities, the office led a cleanup drive along the one kilometer stretch of the Matubig Creek in Brgy. San Agustin here.

The waste weighing approximately 1,960 kg were collected during the clean-up and immediately transported to the Municipal Material Recovery Facility located in Brgy. San Nicolas.

Some 250 voluteers (157 male and 93 female) from PENRO Pampanga, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, PENRO Tarlac, CENRO Camiling, CENRO Munoz, PENRO Zambalez, PENRO Nueva Ecija, Ecological Management Bureau , Mines and Geosciences Burea, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Brgy. San Agustin Officials, Municipal ENRO Sta. Ana, Muncipal Officials and FORD Pampanga participated in the said activity.
