THE chairman of the City of San Fernando Water District has assured customers that there is no need to be concerned about its water supply.

“Our water supply situation is okay,” Ferdinand Caylao, chairman of the City of San Fernando Water District, told SunStar Pampanga Tuesday, April 9.

Caylao said the water district has the capacity to supply the requirements of its customers even during the summer months despite the increased demand during the season.

He, however, said that water pressure during summer will weaken during peak demand hours, particularly from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, lunch time and early evening.

This peak demand period, he said, will be experienced until June.

“We do not see water shortage problem in the next five years or so,” he said.

Caylao said that they are beefing up their facilities to ensure its capacity will meet the growing demand of its customers.

“We are installing bigger water tanks for our new pumps to further increase our capacity,” he said.

He disclosed that the water district has established seven new pumps.

Caylao, however, urged customers to practice conservation.

“It’s one way to help maintain water supply capacity also by avoiding unnecessary wasteful consumption,” he said.

Caylao revealed that they plan to tap surface water by constructing dams and other water impounding infrastructure in the future to augment its water supply.

“We adopt pro-active management to avert any water problem in the future,” he said. (NCS)
