SOME YEARS back, Dau was being bruited about its readiness to become a separate political entity and was believed to stand on its own revenues and significant with a fast growing population.

The movement to wean off Dau from Mabalacat City did not muster enough enthusiasm and support and thus it did not prosper and eventually died down.

Now, Dau is still growing economically and financially. It remains the big center for commercial activity and promises to grow bigger.

Dau lies on the southern portion of Mabalacat City and share boundary lines with Balibago, Angeles City and to the west is Barangay Lakandula, to the east is Barangay Duquit and to the north is Barangay Camachiles.

True enough, Dau is dotted by well-known fastfood chains: McDonalds (at least two branches), Jollibee (three branches), Chowking, Didi's Pizza, grocery/retail outlets: Jumbo Jenra and S & R, private schools St. Mutien Marie, Children of Fatima School, Inc., and ACLC, drug stores and, of course, PX stalls.

Its current chairman is Glenn Derrick A. Llanos Dee and Kagawad Rommel C. Espino, Eroll Jake C. Soliven, Evelyn M. Caisip, Mario O. Tolentino, Jade Jefferson C. Evangelista, Loida A. Ramos, Christian Josue T. Jocson and SK chair Alfonso D. Nacpil. The SK secretary is Jeron A. Balunsat and treasurer is Mary Carmen Y. Fortit.

Dau's land area is 833 hectares and its population is 62,379 as of 2020 census.

I wanted to get the programs, projects and activities of Barangay Dau from no less than Barangay Chairman Dee but I presumed he was busy with other barangay matters. I texted him but got no response.

I wish to thank DILG Mabalacat office head Rowena Ocampo and staff members led by Josie Cayabyab with Mike Miranda the utility man for being gracious to my request for the list of elected barangay officials.

Anyway, from the looks of things, Dau is growing exponentially and in great strides. More businesses are setting camp on this progressive area: Puregold and Jumbo Jenra leading the retail sector and China Bank and BPI in the banking business.

It is summarily peaceful and orderly except for some minor incidents along Daang Bakal where live the poorest of the poor of the Barangay.

There are several subdivisions in Barangay Dau like Rimaven. Jose C. Feliciano College Foundation is situated near the NLEX exit.

Through the years, more development is expected to visit Barangay Dau.
