Viray: Irony

Atty. Atlee T. Viray

YEARS ago (2016 to be exact), Isko Domagoso fared poorly in the Senatorial elections. He is nowhere the winner’s circle. Fast forward, Yorme Isko is a superstar. He is a household name. Many people, this early, consider Isko a presidential timber. What an irony!

Years ago there was a giant killer of a lady in Isabela. She toppled a powerful family despite a meager political budget. She was one of the shining stars, in the company of Governor Ed Panlilio, admired for their honesty and integrity. Fast forward, Grace Padaca is convicted of graft by the Sandigan. What an irony!

Kaning baboy is good for pigs. We were used to feeding our pigs and fatten them. Swill feeding was the practice. A diligent pig owner solicited “kaning baboy” from household and restaurants. Fast forward, swill feeding is prohibited because it leads to death caused by African Swine Fever. What an irony!

“If you have rice”, you are self-sufficient. We are used to eat unlimited rice. We were happy when rice was served on the table. Fats forward, rice is a poison. It leads to body sugar leading to diabetes. What an irony!

Closer to home, Vince Dizon was supposed to be fired because of a “whiff” of corruption. He must have suffered a lot for the perceived wrong. Fast forward, Vince is now presidential adviser on flagship projects. What an irony!

Life is a roller coaster ride. What was good before is not necessarily good today. What was unpopular before is the craze today. The goat of today is the hero tomorrow and vice versa.
