Over 1M doses of Covid-19 vaccines administered in Ilocos

OVER one million doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines have been inoculated in Ilocos Region as of August 20, according to the Department of Health Center for Health and Development (DOH-CHD) in Ilocos.

“We would like to congratulate the Regional Vaccination Operations Center, local government units and most especially all our healthcare workers, for their dedication to serve our fellow Filipinos. Also, we are also very grateful to everyone who is already vaccinated against Covid-19," said DOH-CHD-Ilocos Covid-19 focal person Dr. Rheuel Bobis in an interview on Monday, August 23.

Bobis assured they are constantly coordinating with the national government for stable vaccine allocation in the region.

The DOH-CHD-Ilocos is eyeing to inoculate 70 percent of the population in the region by the end of this year, he said.

Bobis said of the over one million doses, 106,376 were given as the first dose to workers in frontline health services, and 15,450 doses to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and families of healthcare workers.

Some 178,124 doses were given to senior citizens, 127,218 to persons with comorbidities, and 89,809 to essential workers, he added.

Bobis said 88,222 doses were administered as the second dose to workers in frontline health services, 4,529 as second dose to OFWs and families of healthcare workers, 121,640 to senior citizens, and 49,289 to persons with comorbidities, while the 5,728 were second doses to essential workers.

He said some 4,962 Janssen vaccines were administered to 4,962 workers in frontline health services, 9,122 to OFWs and families of healthcare workers, 106,383 doses to senior citizens, 99,297 to persons with comorbidities, and 252 doses to essential workers. (PNA)
