1 dead, 3 injured in Leyte road mishap

A MAN was killed and three others were injured after a 10-wheeler truck collided with two motorcycles in Carigara, Leyte Saturday evening, February 22.

The fatality was identified as Ruel Azores, 36, married and resident of Barangay Pinamopoan, Capoocan, Leyte.

Injured were driver Carlito Baculanta Bacolod, 54, and his backrider Edgar Cabelin, 47, both residents of Carigara town who were on board a motorcycle with a sidecar; and Jonathan Castil, 42, driver of the Isuzu truck, a resident of Sta. Fe, Leyte.

Initial investigation revealed that Bacolod and Castil were headed to Tacloban City from Ormoc City, while Azores was traveling in opposite direction.

Upon reaching Sitio Bariis of Barangay East Visoria in Carigara, Castil suddenly lost control of the truck and hit Bacolod and Azores.

The victims were rushed to nearby hospital, police said.

Carigara police are investigating the incident.
