A MAN was killed after he allegedly fired against policemen during the anti-illegal drug operation in Maasin City, Southern Leyte Wednesday afternoon, March 4.

The suspect, Eric Maglines, 36, fired his caliber .38 pistol after sensing that he was transacting with a police officer who was able to buy four pieces plastic sachets of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) for P4,000 around 2:30 p.m. at Barangay Libhu of the said city.

Elements from Southern Leyte Provincial Police Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unity, led by Major Ariel Nunez, were able to return fire and hit the suspect on his body.

Maglines was immediately brought to the nearest hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced dead later.
