A TOTAL of 186 samples in Eastern Visayas were tested negative for Sars-CoV-2, the pathogen which causes coronavirus disease (Covid-19), said the Department of Health (DOH) in the region on Friday, May 22.

Included in the negative results are the third swab samples of patient EV-7 from Burauen, Leyte and patient EV-9 from Tarangnan, Samar.

“They can now reintegrate into the community,” DOH-Eastern Visayas said.

The third swab sample of patient EV-11 from Tarangnan, who was previously positive from her second swab sample, is also now negative and may be discharged on Saturday, May 23, from Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC).

“She will be instructed to do another 14-day step down isolation at the Tarangnan Isolation Facility. Upon the discharge of patient EV-11, there will be a zero confirmed Covid-19 case admitted in EVRMC,” DOH-Eastern Visayas said in a statement.

Earlier, confirmatory testing samples at the Eastern Visayas Regional Covid-19 Testing Center (EVRCTC) were put on hold due to delay of the arrival of extraction and detection kits brought by Typhoon Ambo.

The testing resumed on Friday, May 22. (SunStar Philippines)
