2 barangay captains, driver shot dead in Samar

MOTOR-RIDING gunmen shot and killed two barangay captains and their driver in Tarangnan, Samar Wednesday, March 3, 2021.

Police identified the victims as Bonifacio Babon, 63, barangay captain of Marabut; Amelita Helbolario, barangay captain of Awang; and Elpidio Babon Jr., habal-habal driver.

The victims were all residents of Tarangnan town.

Initial investigation disclosed that the victims were traversing Balugo-Tarangnan municipal road around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday when they were attacked by still unidentified suspects with the use of caliber. 45.

Babon, along with the habal-habal driver, died on the spot.

Helbolario was rushed to Samar Provincial Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
