2 Cafgu members shot dead in Northern Samar

AT LEAST two members of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) were killed by still unknown gunmen in Palapag, Northern Samar Friday, October 18.

Authorities identified the victims as Jason Rebay and Gerry Ortea, Cafgu members assigned at 52nd detachement of the 20th Infantry Battalion based in Palapag town.

Initial investigation revealed that the victims were on board a motorcycle heading toward Barangay Pangpang in Palapag when they were shot by undetermined number of assailants.

The victims sustained gunshot wounds in the different parts of their bodies, resulting in their instantaneous death.

The gunmen fled after the incident.

Recovered from the scene were two empty shells of 5.56 mm and one live ammunition of 5.56 mm.
