2 dead in Calbayog in less than 24 hours

IN LESS than 24 hours, at least two persons were shot dead in Calbayog City, Samar Sunday, August 25.

Police identified the first victim as village councilor Jesunico Castor, 54, a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Binaliw, Tinambacan District, Calbayog City.

He was shot by still unidentified gunman around 4 a.m. Sunday in Barangay Malayog, Tinambacan District, police said in a report.

Around 7:50 p.m., the Calbayog City police received another information from a concerned citizen about a shooting incident in Purok 1, Barangay Aguit-itan.

The Calbayog City police, led by Lieutenant Colonel Joel Garcia, identified the victim as Ronaldo Aniban, 37, a hospital utility worker and resident of Barangay Aguit-itan.

Initial investigation revealed that around 7:30 p.m., the victim was inside an internet café when an unidentified gunman suddenly entered and shot him in the forehead.

The gunman fled to an unknown direction.

Police are conducting a follow-up investigation and pursuit operation against the gunman. (SunStar Philippines)
