2 fishermen dead, 2 injured after dynamite explodes

TWO fishermen died and two others injured after an alleged dynamite exploded while they were fishing in the waters off Barangay Malayog, Tinambacan District, Calbayog City Saturday evening, September 18, 2021.

Killed were Cristobal Rosalado, 50, and Jamer Sigue, 32.

Authorities identified the injured as Daryl Tahos, 27, and Rogelio Diaz, 24, all residents of the said barangay.

Initial investigation disclosed that while victims were allegedly conducting illegal dynamite fishing at the said area, Rosalado ignited the improvised dynamite and it suddenly exploded on his hand, which resulted in their death and wounded their two companions.

The body of Rosalado has yet to be recovered, police said in the report on Saturday.

The two other wounded fishermen were already brought to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

Authorities are investigating the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
