2 killed after motorcycle hits electric pole in Leyte

TWO persons were killed after their motorcycle hit an electric pole in Babatngon, Leyte Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

The accident happened around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday along the national highway of Barangay Victory, Babatngon.

Police identified the victims as Freddie Abanes, 49, driver of the motorcycle, and Ismael Abata, 24, back rider.

Both were farmers and residents of Barangay Naga-Asan of the said town.

In an initial investigation, police said the motorcycle was traveling from Tacloban City going to Babatngon town proper at high speed.

Upon reaching Barangay Victory, the driver lost control of his driven vehicle and hit the concrete electric pole.

Both victims sustained injuries in the different parts of their bodies and were pronounced dead by Dr. Julieta Caneja Conge, Babatngon municipal health officer. (SunStar Philippines)
