THREE former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) are set to receive assistance through the national government’s Enhanced-Comprehensive Livelihood Program (E-Clip) after they voluntarily surrendered in Eastern Samar.

In the information released by the Police Regional Office in Eastern Visayas on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, the former rebels were identified as alias Batoy, 65, and alias Titang, 53, both residents of Dolores town; and alias Fred, 56, of Borongan City.

Alias Batoy handed over one unit of 5.56 mm single-shot homemade rifle with seven live ammunition, while alias Fred turned in one unit caliber .38 together with three live ammunition for caliber .38 revolver.

Dolores and Borongan in Eastern Samar were the recent sites of the government’s intense anti-insurgency operations due to the presence of alleged NPA members.
