FOUR teenagers were apprehended over carnapping charges in Eastern Visayas from January 4 to 5, 2021, according to the Highway Patrol Group (HPG).

The Regional Highway Patrol Unit (RHPU) in Eastern Visayas arrested two suspects, both 16 years old, in Tacloban City in coordination with Kawayan police personnel through a warrant issued by Judge Jacinto Elle of Tacloban City’s Branch 7 Family Court.

In General MacArthur, Eastern Samar, joint operatives from RHPU-Eastern Visayas, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Eastern Samar, and MacArthur Municipal Police Station also arrested an 18-year-old suspect and his 17-year-old accomplice through a warrant issued by Judge Nathaniel Baldono of Regional Trial Court-Branch 2 in Borongan City.

In a statement, HPG Director Brigadier General Alexander Tagum lauded the RHPU-Eastern Visayas in their operations.

“Their efforts signify the HPG’s unflinching resolve to help keep crooks at bay as there is a resurgence of criminal activities after the holidays,” Tagum said. (SunStar Philippines)
