Barangay councilor shot dead; another victim survives in ‘riding-in-tandem’ attacks

A BARANGAY councilor was shot and killed while another victim survived in riding-in-tandem attacks in Calbayog City and Leyte, Leyte Friday, May 21, 2021.

Jimmy Botron, 49, was shot by unidentified gunmen while he was on his way home from his fish stall along the national highway of Barangay Carayman, Calbayog around 6 a.m. Friday.

The victim was brought to the hospital but was declared dead by the attending physician, according to the police.

Around 8:25 a.m. Friday, another victim was shot by unidentified suspects on board a motorcycle in Sitio Patag, Barangay Baco, Leyte, Leyte.

Authorities identified the victim as Joel Lasdoce, 44, a resident of the said town.

The victim was immediately brought to the hospital for medical treatment. His wife was unharmed during the incident.

Police are conducting a hot pursuit operation for possible arrest of the suspects. (SunStar Philippines)
