Butcher nabbed over drugs in Samar

POLICE arrested a butcher during an anti-illegal drug operation in Calbayog City, Samar on Wednesday, March 4.

The suspect Rodeo Calamayo, 37, a resident of the city, is also considered high-value target of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the region when he was arrested at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday at Purok-3, Barangay Hamorawon, Calbayog.

Purchased from the suspect was one piece heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride), police said.

Also confiscated from his possession and control were two pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu and P1,000 used as drug bust money.

The operation was conducted by Calbayog City Police led by Major Gracila Sabas, investigative officer with Samar Drug Enforcement Unity and PDEA-8, SPO led by IA5 Ma. Rhea D Caminong, provincial officer.

Calamayo will face charges in violation to Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
