Cop nabbed for grave threats, illegal discharge of firearm

A 43-YEAR-OLD policeman was arrested for alleged grave threats and illegal discharge of firearm in Balangiga, Eastern Samar on Sunday afternoon, October 24, 2021.

The police was identified as Corporal Alexander Salazar, presently assigned at Hernani Municipal Police Station of the said province.

According to information released by the Police Regional Office-Eastern Visayas, a certain Arlyn Abrogar reported to the Balangiga Municipal Police Station and requested assistance after her brother, Abby, was allegedly threatened by Salazar by pointing his government-issued firearm, a caliber 9mm Beretta.

Salazar also allegedly discharged his firearm into the air, the police said in the report.

The responding team of Balangiga Municipal Police Station, led by Chief MSgt. Roselle Cardoso, said the suspect "became unruly with his firearm tucked on his back, prompting the responding personnel to confiscate the weapon."

The suspect was brought to the station with the confiscated firearm with two magazines for caliber 9mm and 13 live ammunition.
