Covid-19 shows no sign of slowing down in Eastern Visayas

CASES of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) continue to increase in Eastern Visayas, with 116 new cases recorded on Friday, October 23, bringing the total number of cases to 6,265.

The additional cases were recorded out of 1,154 laboratory samples tested in two Covid-19 laboratories in the region: the Eastern Visayas Regional Covid-19 Testing Center and the Divine Word Hospital Virology Laboratory in Tacloban City.

The 116 new cases are from Tacloban City (2), Alangalang (13), Baybay City (8), Babatngon (2), Dagami (3), Inopacan (1), Isabel (5), Jaro (1), Kananga (12), Mahaplag (1), Matag-ob (1), Palo (1), Almagro (1), Calbayog City (2), Catbalogan City (11), Gandara (2), Marabut (1), San Jorge (2), Villareal (2), Borongan City (1), Catarman (35), Catubig (1), Gamay (3), Las Navas (1), Palapag (1) and Maasin City (2).

As of Friday, the region reported 5,260 (83.96 percent) total recoveries, with 58 (0.93 percent) deaths and one non-Covid related death, bringing the total active cases to 946 (15.10 percent). (SunStar Philippines)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit.
