THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Eastern Samar provincial engineering district received commendation after it obtained a 100-percent rating for the road maintenance performance assessment in the first semester of 2021.

"Behind these good performances and achievements are hardworking field personnel and engineers who dedicate their time and effort to their work,” said Engineer Ma. Margarita Junia, provincial district engineer.

“As public servants, we comply with the policies because it will improve our service to the public, and being awarded and recognized is only a bonus," she added.

In a memorandum, DPWH Eastern Visayas Regional Director Nerie Bueno lauded the provincial engineering district “for its constant effort to provide safe and well-maintained roads and bridges to the traveling public.”

The official also urged the provincial engineering district “to strive in order to sustain good performance in keeping with the commitments and target in the Philippine Governance System Enterprise Scorecard.”

According to Junia, they hoped to get the same compliant assessment for the second-semester road rating which is scheduled from October 6 to October 20.

Since 2016, DPWH-Eastern Samar has consistently received certificates of commendation for being outright compliant with the provision on the maintenance of national roads and bridges. (SunStar Philippines)
