RESIDENTS of Eastern Samar have expressed their sympathies to the bereaved family of the late Governor Conrado “Aklan” Nicart Jr., who died Tuesday, April 16.

Nicart, who was on a medical leave of absence, died due to a lingering illness at the Makati Medical Center. He was 71.

Before being elected as governor in 2010, Nicart was a mayor of San Policarpo in Eastern Samar.

In a statement, Acting Governor Marcelo Picardal said the people of Eastern Samar will continue to cherish in their hearts and minds the sacrifices and the public service given by Nicart to the province.

The Provincial Capitol lowered the Philippine flag to half-mast Wednesday, April 17, to pay respect to the late governor. (SunStar Philippines)
