Eastern Visayas cops net 177 wanted persons, 171 other offenders

POLICE in Eastern Visayas arrested 177 wanted persons and 171 other offenders in seven-day operations across the region from April 11 to 17, 2021.

“Despite the scourging threat of the coronavirus disease, let us remain steadfast in our peace and order efforts,” said Brigadier General Ronaldo De Jesus, director of Police Regional Office-Eastern Visayas.

Out of the 177 wanted persons, authorities arrested 21 most wanted from the region, provincial, municipal, and city station level, according to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Ma. Bella Rentuaya.

The intensified implementation of special laws during the seven-day operations resulted in the arrest of 103 personalities involved in illegal fishing, five in illegal logging, 50 illegal gambling and 13 drug suspects.

In a statement, the police regional command urged all field units to intensify their operations to yield more arrests and double the efforts in hunting down all the fugitives in Eastern Visayas. (SunStar Philippines)
