THE total number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Eastern Visayas has climbed to 920, with 57 additional cases reported Thursday, July 30, 2020.
Most of the cases are locally stranded individuals (LSIs), including a nine-month-old infant.
The Eastern Visayas Regional Covid-19 Testing Center (EVRCTC) released a total of 273 laboratory results, of which 230 are negative and 43 are positive.
The 43 new cases are from Tarangnan, Samar (1); Villareal, Samar (2); Jiabong (2), both LSIs; Almagro, Samar (3); Catbalogan City, Samar (4), all LSIs; Pagsanghan, Samar (2), both LSIs; San Jose de Buan (4), all LSIs; Sta. Rita, Samar (1); Motiong, Samar (5), all LSIs; and Daram, Samar (3), all LSIs; Capul, Northern Samar (2), both LSIs; Silvino Lobos, Northern Samar (4); Mapanas, Northern Samar (1), LSI; Gamay, Northern Samar (3), all LSIs; and San Roque, Northern Samar (1), LSI.
Also, Maasin City recorded five new cases, all LSIs.
The Divine Word Hospital Virology Laboratory (DWHVL), meanwhile, released a total of 269 results on Thursday.
Of these, 249 are negative and 20 are positive for Covid-19.
The positive results include 14 new cases and six re-swab results of EV-611 from Albuera; EV-688, 749, 750 from Mahaplag; EV-200 from Tanauan; and EV-664 from Baybay City, all in Leyte.
The 14 new cases are tagged as patients EV-907 to EV-920.
In Leyte, the cases are in Tunga (2), both LSIs; Palo (1), LSI; Baybay (1), an overseas Filipino worker; Tanauan (2), with LSI; Tolosa (2), both LSIs; Isabel (2), both LSIs; Abuyog (1), LSI; Carigara (1), LSI; Kananga (1), LSI; and Albuera (1), LSI.
A total of 164 Divine Word Hospital employees also tested negative for the virus, according to the Department of Health (DOH) in the region.
As of Thursday, the region has a total of 664 (72.17 percent) recoveries.
Earlier this week, over 600 LSIs arrived in the region through the national government's "Hatid Tulong" program. (SunStar Philippines)
