Eastern Visayas logs 105 new Covid-19 cases, 5 deaths

CASES of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) have already reached 12,300 in Eastern Visayas following the 105 new cases recorded on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.

The Department of Health (DOH) in the region also reported five additional Covid-related fatalities, bringing the total deaths to 149 (1.21 percent).

The fatalities were identified as patient EV-10854, a 31-year-old female from Sta. Rita, Samar who died on January 10, 2021; EV-12096, an 86-year-old female from Tacloban City who died on January 8, 2021; EV-11544, a 38-year-old female from Mahaplag, Leyte who died on January 12, 2021; EV-11323, a 60-year-old female from Naval, Biliran who died on January 7, 2021; and EV-12259, a 75-year-old patient from Tarangnan, Samar who died on January 10, 2021.

Meanwhile, the DOH said the 105 new cases were recorded out of 1,079 laboratory samples tested in the three Covid-19 laboratories in the region.

As of Wednesday, the total Covid-19 recoveries is at 11,382 (92.54 percent), with total active cases at 769 (6.25 percent). (SunStar Philippines)
