Eastern Visayas logs 4 new Covid deaths

DEATHS related to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) have reached 533 in Eastern Visayas, following four new additional cases reported on Sunday, October 10, 2021.

The new fatalities were identified as EV46778, a 24-year-old female from Catarman, Northern Samar who died on September 22, 2021; EV46348, a 58-year-old male from Pambujan, Northern Samar who died on September 21, 2021; EV43283, a 76-year-old female from Isabel, Leyte who died on September 24, 2021; and EV40669, an 86-year-old male from Catarman, Northern Samar who died on September 12, 2021.

“With the high number of cases in Eastern Visayas, the Department of Health continues to appeal to the public to keep following and keep practicing the minimum public health standards all the time and in all settings,” the regional health department reiterated amid the continued vaccination drive in the region.

Meanwhile, the region also logged 155 new Covid-19 cases and 129 new recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases to 49,333 and total recoveries to 47,598 (96.48 percent).

The 155 new cases were recorded out of 974 laboratory samples in four testing laboratories, representing a 16 percent positivity rate.

These new confirmed cases are from Tacloban City (20), Ormoc City (19), Leyte province (56), Southern Leyte (19), Eastern Samar (3),

Northern Samar (9), Samar (4), Biliran (24), and others (1).

As of Sunday, Eastern Visayas has 1,202 (2.44 percent) total active Covid-19 cases. (SunStar Philippines)
