Eastern Visayas logs 76 new coronavirus cases, 2 more related deaths

THE Department of Health (DOH)-Eastern Visayas reported 76 new cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), bringing the total number of cases in the region to 6,057, as of Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

Two coronavirus-related deaths were also reported in Jiabong and Gandara towns in Samar.

According to the regional health department, the 76 new cases were recorded out of 1,014 laboratory samples tested in two laboratories in the region.

The additional cases are from Tacloban City (9); Alangalang (3); Barugo (1); Baybay City (1); Hilongos (4); Inopacan (2); Javier (1); Tolosa (4); Catbalogan City (10); Lawaan (2); San Jorge (4); Sta. Margarita (3); Catarman (3); Gamay (3); Laoang (7); Lapinig (1); Mondragon (10); Palapag (1); and San Jose (7).

As of Wednesday evening, Eastern Visayas recorded 5,164 (85.26 percent) recoveries, 58 (0.96 percent) deaths and one non-Covid-related death, bringing the total active cases to 834 (13.77 percent). (SunStar Philippines)
