Farmer, habal-habal driver shot dead in Eastern Samar

A FARMER and a habal-habal driver were shot dead by unknown gunmen in Arteche, Eastern Samar Sunday, February 23.

Police identified the victims as Wilmar Herbon, 32, habal-habal driver; and Lito Voces, 41, farmer, both residents of Barangay Campacion in Arteche town.

The shooting happened around 4:40 p.m. Sunday in Sitio Subok, Barangay Tangbo, Arteche, according to responding policemen led by Captain Reymund Quinagutan.

Initial investigation disclosed that the victims were on board a single motorcycle driven by Voces when upon reaching Barangay Tangbo, the gunmen appeared and shot them.

The victims were hit in the different parts of their bodies. Herbon died on the spot, while Voces was rushed to Arteche District Hospital for medical attention but later died while being treated.

The gunmen fled after shooting the victims.

Police are investigating the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
