Fish vendor yields 'shabu'

A 39-YEAR-OLD fish vendor was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Alangalang, Leyte Friday, December 4, 2020.

A police operative was able to purchase from the suspect, Roderick Olaya, one sachet containing suspected shabu during the operation around 5 a.m. Friday in Barangay Milagrosa of the said town.

Personnel from the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of Alangalang Municipal Police led by Captain Arturo Salvacion Jr, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), identified the suspect as a street-level individual.

Confiscated from Olaya's possession and control were P500 buy-bust money, three sachets containing suspected shabu and a motorcycle.

The confiscated drug items weighed 0.06 grams with an estimated value of P2,000, police said in the report.

A barangay official and a media representative were also present during the inventory and marking of evidence.

The suspect will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
