High school student stabbed in Southern Leyte

POLICE arrested a 34-year-old laborer who allegedly stabbed a high school student in Barangay Dagsa, Sogod, Southern Leyte Monday, May 3, 2021.

The suspect was identified as Rogelio Lansang Abais, a resident of the said town.

Initial investigation disclosed that the victim and his friends were having a drinking spree around 2:30 a.m. Monday when the suspect approached them and without any apparent reason, smacked the shoulder of one of their female friends.

The suspect then left the area after they were pacified.

After an hour, while they were following a pathway on board a motorcycle at low speed on their way home, the suspect suddenly appeared from the dark portion and stabbed the victim using a kitchen knife.

The victim was brought to the hospital for medical attention.

A case is now being prepared for filing against the suspect. (SunStar Philippines)
