Man nabbed in Southern Leyte for illegal fishing

A MAN was arrested in Hinundayan, Southern Leyte on Wednesday, August 28, for illegal fishing.

Authorities identified the suspect as Amador Veloso, 39, a resident of Hinundayan.

The fisherman was arrested around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday off Barangay Sagbok, Hinundayan.

The Hinundayan Municipal Police Station led by Master Sergeant Mark Oliver Necesito, under the direct supervision of Major Jay Balderian, along with the Municipal Fishery Law Enforcement Team of Hinundayan arrested the suspect for violation of Sections 68 and 69 of the Municipal Fishery Ordinance (MFO) 2012-97.

Police confiscated from the suspect a banca worth P6,300 and five kilos of assorted fish with an estimated market value of P900.

The arrested person and the confiscated items are now in the custody of Hinundayan Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. (SunStar Philippines)
