GUNMEN onboard a sports utility vehicle (SUV) shot dead a municipal employee in Gandara, Samar Tuesday, March 3.

Police identified the victim as Alvin Estrelles, municipal disaster risk reduction and management officer of Gandara and a resident of Barangay Adela Heights of the said town.

Initial investigation disclosed that Estrelles was on his way home onboard his motorcycle when upon reaching Barangay Adela Heights, the gunmen onboard a white Adventure vehicle without a plate number appeared and shot the victim.

Estrelles was hit in the different parts of his body, resulting in his instantaneous death.

Motive in the shooting has yet to be determined.

Police have launched hot pursuit operation against the gunmen. (SunStar Philippines)
