Ronald O. Reyes

THE director of Northern Samar Police Provincial Office has ordered a thorough investigation following the killing of a member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) in Silvino Lobos town.

Police Provincial Director Colonel Arnel Apud also directed the newly installed chief of police of Silvino Lobos “to intensify their police-community relations efforts to defeat the violence being perpetrated by the communist terrorists.”

Authorities alleged that armed rebels were behind the attack of 59-year-old Cafgu member Leonilo Henandoy on Monday morning, May 17, 2021.

Initial investigation disclosed that the victim’s wife heard five successive gun bursts and saw two unidentified men, both carrying an M16 rifle, walking in the opposite direction.

Henandoy sustained gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body, resulting in his instantaneous death, police said in the report.

Authorities recovered from the crime scene two empty shells of 5.56 caliber M16.

Meanwhile, the police provincial director handed over the assistance to Henandoy's wife and three children. (SunStar Philippines)
