Police officer shot dead in Tacloban City

TWO DAYS before Christmas, a police officer was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Tacloban City.

Authorities identified the victim as Police Officer 2 Lawrence Tabungar assigned at Mobile Patrol Unit in Tacloban City Police Office.

The shooting incident happened around 9:15 a.m., Sunday, December 23, in front of the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center in Barangay 93, Bagacay.

Initial Investigation showed Tabungar was on board on his driven vehicle and on his way home after performing his duties when fired upon by unidentified assailants on board a red-colored pickup truck.

As the victim was slumped over in the driver's seat, a box of cake was also seen at the backseat of his vehicle. (SunStar Philippines)
