Red fighters, 4 other supporters yield in Eastern Visayas

THREE alleged active members of the New People’s Army (NPA) and four other underground mass organization supporters voluntarily surrendered to the authorities, the Eastern Visayas police regional command said Sunday, July 24, 2022.

The red fighters were identified as alias Tekla/Ola/Jessa, 27, a resident of Dolores, Eastern Samar; alias Palo, 31, of Biliran, Biliran; and alias Renato, 48, of Leyte, Leyte.

They also turned in a caliber pistol and an Ultra Carry 9-millimeter caliber pistol with seven live ammunition during their surrender at the 1st Eastern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company and Biliran Mobile Force Company headquarters on Friday, July 22, 2022.

The other four members of an underground mass organization who withdrew support to the rebel group were identified as alias Buloy, 53; alias Lucas, 55; alias Alma, 42; and alias Mila, 44.

The four individuals are residents of Jipapad, Eastern Samar.

According to the police regional command, they are processing the documents of the surrenderers for possible availment of the national government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip). (SunStar Philippines)
