SK chairman nabbed for 'child abuse'

POLICE have arrested a 22-year-old Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman for alleged child abuse in Barangay Agbanga, Matalom, Leyte.

The accused was identified as Emmanuel Jason Siega, SK chairman of the said barangay.

Joint elements of Matalom Municipal Police Station arrested Siega by virtue of a warrant dated February 26, 2021, for alleged violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

Presiding judge Carlos Arguelles, of Regional Trial Court-Branch 18 in Hilongos town, recommended bail of P200,000 for Siega’s temporary liberty, according to the police.

The accused was brought to the police station for documentation prior to turn-over to the court of origin. (SunStar Philippines)
