Slain Leyte village councilor was a drug surrenderer, police say

THE slain village councilor in La Paz, Leyte was also a drug surrenderer, police said on Monday, December 30.

Sony Buranday, 54, councilor of Barangay Calsadahay in Burauen town, was driving his motorcycle from La Paz to his place in Burauen when the gunmen on board a red pick-up truck, suddenly appeared from behind and shot him using unknown caliber of firearm.

Buranday was hit in different parts of his body which resulted to his instantaneous death.

Authorities said the shooting happened at around 12:20 a.m. Monday, December 30 along Barangay Sta. Ana, La Paz.
