Student, 19, busted in Southern Leyte

A 19-YEAR-OLD student was arrested in an anti-drug operation in Maasin City, Southern Leyte Friday, January 24.

Authorities identified the suspect as Christian Nermar "Lansoy" Beruan, a resident of Maasin.

The Southern Leyte Provincial Police Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, led by Major Ariel Nunez, along with operatives from Maasin City Police Station and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Eastern Visayas, nabbed Beruan at 6:18 p.m. Friday in Barangay Rizal, Maasin.

Purchased from the suspect were two transparent plastic sachets of substance believed to be shabu worth P1,000.

Recovered from his possession and control were two sachets of shabu that were placed in a candy wrapper, the P1,000 buy-bust money, P84 cash, native tobacco leaves, cigarette lighter, and one cellular phone.

The suspect will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
